My client a Gateshead/Durham based firm is involved in delivering Total Engineering Solutions to clients in the Defence, Oil and Gas and Automotive sectors. They offer an extensive product range covering machining, fabrication and welding, laser cutting and painting from simple brackets to complex machined fabrications operating from modern purpose built facilities.



Job description



Reporting to the Head of Engineering and working within the Pre – production team the estimating engineer will be quoting for and supplying cost breakdowns for various fabricated and machined parts from engineering drawings ranging from small brackets and machined parts to 10 tonne assemblies. Ideally they are looking for an individual with experience in pricing both fabricated and machined parts but they must be strong in at lease one of the disciplines.



Main responsibilities


● To be able to determine the most efficient method of manufacture for various parts.

● Provide accurate and detailed cost breakdowns.

● Source materials required to build up the quote.

● Liaise with customers and offer technical advice.

● Hit target dates and meet customer requirements.





Person description

The ideal candidate would demonstrate the following


● Solid fabrication and/or machining background gained in a subcontract environment.
● Be time served in a relevant discipline.

● Have a good understanding of engineering materials.

● Experience in the use of 2D Autocad would be an advantage.

● Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages and ideally is confident in the use of an ERP system.

● Ideally qualified to HNC level in a mechanical engineering discipline.

● A driven individual with a desire to achieve results and attention to detail.

● Must be able to work on various projects at one time.
